Airy, with constructive details linked to Japanese tradition, the Torii modular seats play with round edged volumes, thin profiles and the apparent formal simplicity of an extremely detailed design.
The metal structure of the legs of the seats and tables is Nendo’s nod to the image of the “torii”, the entrance gate to Shinto shrines in Japan. With an interlocking game, the horizontal elements are laid on the vertical supports, ensuring a sophisticated visual lightness that accommodates the padded volume, characterised by couture craftsmanship.
The Torii family includes sofas — with high or low backrest and a linear shape, rounded at the arms — inclined sofas with a combination of two different depths, armchairs and lounge and dining little armchairs, ottomans, coffee tables, and a slender, oval-shaped console table, ideal for placing anywhere in the living area. The varied range of products makes it possible to design a flexible layout, in which the individual elements can also be combined to create a strong visual unity. The metal frame found in the components of the Torii family evokes the image of the “Senbon Torii, the wooden colonnade that forms a gallery made up of 1,000 vermilion torii gates”, as Nendo reminds us.
Structure
Seat in metal-reinforced plywood. The seat structure is padded with high-resilience, variable-density polyurethane foam with high-rubbercontent elastic webbing to maximize comfort. Metal backrest coated in high-resilience polyurethane foam, covered in breathable heat-bonded fiber laminated to white, hypoallergenic cotton fabric to lend softness. The backrest/armrest structure and its internal casing feature a quilted vertical slat pattern finished with double stitching and piping around the perimeter. The piping is made of eco-leather and/or eco-nubuck (a dry-cleanable material) and comes in the following colours: — Eco-Leather: White, Cloud, Sand, Havana, Ice, Chestnut, Peat, Baltic, Burgundy, Smoke, Cast-Iron, Black, Mustard, Cognac, Corten; — Eco-Nabuk: Cloud, Mink, Ice, Moka, Baltic, Burgundy, Moss, Charcoal, Green, Cognac, Corten, Granite, Curry.
Cushions
backrest and seat cushions in channeled goose down (Assopiuma Gold Label certified) undergo routine sanitization as specified in EC Regulation No. 1069/2009, with core insert in high-resilience, variable-density polyurethane foam. The lumbar cushion is padded with high-resilience, variable-density polyurethane foam, then covered with breathable, heat-bonded fiber laminated to white cotton canvas and finished with piping.
Covers
Structure, seat and backrest cushion covers are completely removable in all versions (fabric and leather).
MAGAZINE CADDY
The LOW seating elements (low backrest) can be accessorized with a leather magazine caddy, tailored using the same techniques used for luggage, and enhanced with brass details, Black-Nickel finish that tie in with the base.

— when the upholstered piece is upholstered entirely in fabric, the leather for the magazine caddy may be chosen from among the three available categories of leather: Leather, Extra leather and Nature leather; — when the upholstered piece is upholstered entirely in leather, the leather for the magazine caddy is the same as that chosen for the upholstered piece; — when the upholstered piece has a base in Cat. Nature leather, the leather for the magazine caddy will be the same as that chosen for the base. N.B.: the magazine caddy cannot be paired with the HIGH seating; it is available only for the LOW seating.
Feet
Made of 25 mm ? solid metal rods, varnished Bronze colour with polished anti-fingerprint finish; tip and decorative element in brass, Black-Nickel finish. Black protective SEBS glides.

N.B.
The inclined sofa with 250 cm TOP, HIGH and LOW versions and bench with 180 cm TOP, have the top in 20 mm thick Calacatta or Stone Grey marble with matt polyester coating, supported by an aluminium honeycomb panel.
