A sinuous geometric pattern defines the identity of the Riley seating system by Hannes Peer. With a timeless aesthetic, characteristic of Minotti’s stylistic language, it is defined by the architect as “a dynamic and versatile design that interprets the embrace of two perfectly complementary souls, balanced between restraint and expressiveness, rigour and ease, permanence and fluidity. One is distinctly architectural, outward-facing, while the other is softer on the interior, featuring a strong decorative sign that extends an invitation to relax.”

From the recessed metal base, the volume of the seat rises monolithic and solid, enriched with light vertical quilting that gives rhythm to the backrest and armrest. Meanwhile, a deeper profile, upholstered in leather in contrast or colour-matched to the upholstery chosen for the sofa, becomes the distinctive feature of the design. A trace, a continuous line, both curved and straight, that follows the square backrest and armrest, creating a teardrop-shaped cut with a 45-degree inclination at the junction between the armrest and the seat, transforming the sofa into a unique couture-inspired piece. The seat cushion is a single element, partially housed in the padded base, and enhanced with a 5 cm-wide decorative band. The possibility to have elements with two different seat depths not only adds greater comfort to this system, but also creates an interesting interplay of volumes that can be combined.

The additional “relax” cushions, on the other hand, serve as headrests, thanks to an internal, multidirectional aluminium frame that can be shaped as desired, fully enveloped in a sophisticated layering of polyurethanes, offering maximum comfort.

Structure

In plywood. The seat structure is coated in high-resilience polyurethane foam; a core insert made of steel pocket springs ensures non-deformability of the seat and greater comfort. Seat structure is concave to accommodate the seat cushion. The armrest and backrest structures are coated in high-resilience, variable-density polyurethane foam, contoured to adapt perfectly to the special haute couture upholstery, trademark feature of the system. The structure is then encased in breathable heat-bonded fibre laminated to white hypoallergenic cotton fabric. Tailoring of the backrest/armrest structure upholstery is enhanced by light vertical top-stitching on the backrest and by leather piping that outlines the backrest and the entire perimeter of the armrest. If the client has not specified the piping colour on the order, the choice will be determined by the company. The piping is made of leather (extra-soft dry cleaning) and is available in the following colours: Chalk, Cloud, Pumice, Sand, Khaki, Slate, Clay, Oil Green, Moss, Cognac, Peat, Blue Ocean, Bordeaux, Stone Grey, Ivory, Tobacco, Dove Grey and Cacao.

Cushions

Seat and backrest cushion padding in high-loft channelled goose down subject to routine sanitisation as specified in EC Regulation No. 1069/2009 (Assopiuma Gold Label certified), then encased in breathable heat-bonded fibre laminated to hypoallergenic white cotton fabric. The seat and backrest cushions contain a high-resilience, variable-density polyurethane foam insert in temperature-sensitive material. The seat cushion is attached to the structure by a perimeter zipper that allows it to remain perfectly positioned in its place. The system includes the optional “RELAX” 75×65 cm backrest cushion composed of an aluminium structure coated in variable-density polyurethane foam. The multidirectional aluminium structure allows adjustment of the head support to ensure the utmost in comfort.

Covers

Upholstery is completely removable in all versions (fabric and leather).

Base

Rests on a perimeter base in metal with Black chrome or varnished polished anti-fingerprint finish in Bronze colour. Adjustable black polyethylene feet. Ottomans 104×64 cm, 124×64 cm, 144×64 cm, 164×64 cm and 184×64 cm, are available also with castors (structure in nylon and thermoplastic polyurethane rubber).

COVER WASHING INSTRUCTIONS

Due to the special crafting process used to make the covers, only extra-soft dry cleaning with reduced mechanical action is recommended for all indoor fabrics in the Collection and for any type of customer fabric (including water-washable fabrics). Do not tumble dry.

BASES/CASTORS HEIGHT OPTIONS

Available upon request with surcharge, 10,5 cm high bases and kit-castors (for ottomans); which are 3 cm higher than standard bases/castors.

INFORMATION REGARDING PIPING WHEN IT IS DETERMINED BY THE COMPANY

— all-fabric upholstery version: the piping will be in the same colour family as the fabric;
— all-leather upholstery version: piping will be in the same leather chosen for the upholstery.
